FFXIV News Naoki Yoshida Interview
It’s been more than six months since Final Fantasy XIV’s second expansion “Stormblood” released, and now the game is deep within its so-called “patch series”, where quarterly updates to the game introduce more content such as the continuation of the main scenario, new raids, new features, and so on.
Recently we had the chance to chat with producer/director Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida on the state of the game, the reception to Stormblood, and what it means for the future of the mainline MMORPG.
—Stormblood came out in June and now we’re on patch 4.1 and 4.18 – how do you feel about the response to the latest updates?
Naoki Yoshida: First and foremost, it’s not just the development team, but the internal operations team, PR and marketing team [that have contributed with this achievement]. We’ve updated the record subscriber numbers – the biggest since the A Realm Reborn launch.... -
FFXIV News New Year's Greetings!
Hello there, everyone. Producer and Director Yoshi-P here to wish you all a Happy New Year!
2017 was a fantastic year. The release of our second expansion, Stormblood, was a great success, and we’ve seen more players online than ever before. It goes without saying our accomplishments over the past year wouldn’t have been possible without your support. I can’t thank you enough for your continued patronage.
As mentioned during the LIVE letter in December, our first major update of the year, patch 4.2, will be released at the end of this month. Plans for the FFXIV Fan Festival 2018-2019 are also well underway. With a year’s worth of preparation going into the event anything can happen, but I’m afraid you’ll have to wait to learn what we have in store.
It’s also worth mentioning we aim to do more than hold Fan Festivals. In fact, I’ve already settled on plans for another event over a year from now. I suggest keeping a look out for future announcements to find out what it is.... -
Housing - for those who didn't get a plot
Source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/348376-In-Regard-to-Housing-in-Patch-4.1
In regard to Housing in Patch 4.1
Hello, everyone. This is FFXIV Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida.
Patch 4.1 saw the introduction of the residential area, Shirogane, and though we are pleased to see so many players enjoying this area, we also received a great deal of feedback regarding this newest addition to housing.
While a great number of you were interested in either purchasing or relocating to a plot in Shirogane, we failed to prepare sufficient plots for players, and for that I deeply apologize.
This problem was only made worse by the increased stress on the servers from players rushing to log in after the end of maintenance. As a result, the system implemented to prevent players from abusing the relocation feature failed to function properly, preventing some players from relocating altogether.
Although this issue will be addressed in today’s... -

2 new jobs it looks like. Not mentioned what they are, but Yoshida had a Scarlet Witch t shirt on and its all red. Also one of the 2 fighters in the trailer is all red and fighting with red abilities so a lot of people are thinking Red mage, but it is also fighting in melee and kind of dancing around, so there is a vocal group thinking Dancer.
Inventory Expansion.
Secondary skills system is being re-vamped and going from class based to role based (instead of PLD cross class skills, it will be tank cross class skills.)
Each class will have its Skill system looked at and little used skills may be removed or changed.

Realm News The FFXIVRealm 2.1 Update is Coming!!!
Yep, we're at it again! After a nice, relaxing summer off, we're coming back full-force with some pretty big improvements to the site! And we want your feedback about what should be included in the new update!
Leading up to the 2.1 update, we've been spending a lot of time thinking about what makes FFXIVRealm the best community for the best MMO out there. With this update, we want to focus upon you, the community. Already a lot of improvements have been made behind the scenes in preparation for the launch of the update, including better responsiveness for mobile devices, front-end customization, and lots of new ways to interact with each other. All those little gremlins that exist across the site from the 2.0 updates will hopefully be fixed, and we will be preparing the site for creating even more new, original content.
Over the next few weeks, we will be posting daily screenshots of the site's new look - yes, we're changing the theme once again, but this time, we think we've... -
Realm News Guide of the Month - October 2015
One of our Community Team's favourite things to do each month is to search through our new FFXIV Player Guides to select one to feature for the month. It's always difficult picking the Guide of the Month, but this month was especially hard with so many new Guides to choose from!
In the end, we decided that this Guide really stood out from the rest, with it's insightfulness and detail. Clearly, a lot of work went into preparing this Guide, so we'd like everyone to stop by and check out...
@wildbillhdmax01 's The Ultimate Warrior Guide
Wildbillhdmax01 has clearly lived up to the "Ultimate" title in this complete guide to the Warrior job in FFXIV. He clearly explains job and cross-class actions, tanking rotations and gear. Everything a player looking at getting serious about Warrior needs to get started.

The best FFXIV resources
So I'm looking for information and would be absolutely greatful to anyone that can post here -- post anything, even if it seems like something "obvious" that I probably know about. If you're not sure if someone said it already, go ahead and say it again!
So the purpose of this thread is to share your favourite FFXIV resources. Whether it's people you know in game, on these or other forums, etc, or a website you use a lot. A guide writer, a podcast, a website with statistics, whatever it is that either A) furthers your enjoyment of the game or B) helps you to be informed.
If it's something obvious, like FFXIVRealms guides or MTQ/Mr Happys videos, that's great, post! If it's less obvious, maybe a lesser known guide writer, even better!
Any and all efforts are muchly appreciated by myself and the entire staff -
Realm News Guide of the Month - September 2015
Hey Realmers!~
Man, have I personally been waiting for this one. It's long past due that we feature our very own Realm Scribe, @Caimie Tsukino , for our Guide of the Month. And, even though August was full of a lot of great Guides (that we can't wait to get to featuring in the future), you just can't NOT feature the release of the third installment of Caimie's crafting guides.
A little while ago, we did the math and found that the first installment of this series was somewhere around 10, 000 words and 40-something pages. If you haven't checked out Caimie's crafting guide yet (unlikely, considering her guides have reached over 100, 000 views since April), you definitely need to stop what you're doing and head over there right now.
Here's the links to the first two installements:
